A New Year with Deb Long

The start of a new year is a time for reflection, inspiration, and embracing one's authentic self. As I look back over 2024, I see the disappointments and challenges, but moreover, I see someone who overcame them. This year-end blog pulls back the curtain and gives readers a glimpse into my world and life.

For work, I am a dedicated real estate agent in Central Alabama, and 2025 is all about helping my clients discover homes that genuinely resonate with who they are and the lifestyle they want to lead.

Celebrating Authenticity in Life and Home

As I step into 2025, there are a couple of areas that I want to tackle in my personal life. First, I want to bring a new level of organization into my home. This means going through ALL of my closets and cabinets to declutter. I see a garage sale in my future! Next, I have had some ongoing pain in my knees and an addiction to sugar, and at my regular doctor's appointment in mid-December, my blood pressure was elevated. So, taking a hard look at my physical health is a must. God is a great healer, so I will put my hope in Him (as I head to the park to walk!)

For business in 2025, I want to focus on what consumers are looking for in a transaction: wisdom, guidance, and an advocate. You see, the journey to finding or selling a home is deeply personal. I understand that a home isn't just a structure—it's a reflection of your values, your dreams, and the memories you have created and will create. With over eighteen years of experience, I approach each client's journey with genuine care and a passion for finding their perfect fit. I believe being authentic means understanding what truly matters to you. When it comes to homes, it's about finding a space that feels right for your story, whether you're starting fresh or building on what you've already created.

A Personal Connection

What sets me apart is my dedication to building real connections! I take the time to get to know people, listen to their stories, and understand what matters most to them. If we are friends, you know I have a million questions. When God created me, He gifted me to be inquisitive. When family surrounds me, I often share insight about our ancestry. My cousins often reply, "I had no idea! How do you know that?" With an easy response, "I asked Grandma, and she told me." :) Asking questions to learn something about someone else comes easily to me, and I enjoy the journey of getting to know others on a deeper level. I want you to feel understood and heard, just like I do with my friends and clients.

In real estate, whether it's a single person, a young couple buying their first home, or a family searching for a space that fits their evolving needs, my approach is rooted in authenticity and care. I know every home has a story, and so does every client. My role is to help connect those stories in a way that feels natural and true to who they are, leading them to a home that resonates with their lifestyle. It brings me immense joy to be a part of this journey, and I value the trust my clients place in me.

Finding My Place in 2025

As I write this, the new year is single-digit days away. And I've been thinking about, praying over this since November. As a recap, we welcomed a new granddaughter in 2024; what a blessing she is! And I turned 50 something, edging closer to 60 every day. It does feel like time goes faster as you age, so I need to focus more on being present each day. From the words of Ed Mylett, embrace the power of 1. One more... morning, hug or conversation with your loved ones, drive home from work, dinner with the man or woman you love. We never know when the last one will be.

Today and every day, I need to be the person I desire to be. Who can I have a conversation with that will enrich their life? Who can I buy coffee or lunch for and hear about their life adventures? Who needs a note or card in the mail to let them know someone -me- is thinking about and praying for them? I want and need to be this person!

In addition to my work in Hoover, I have a strong connection to Shelby County, where I live and conduct much of my business. Known for its picturesque landscapes and tight-knit communities, Shelby County offers diverse housing options, from charming historic homes to modern new builds. It brings joy to help my friends and clients explore the unique opportunities in communities like Helena, Chelsea, and Alabaster, where quality schools and welcoming environments make it an ideal place to live. Shelby County holds a special place in my heart, it's where I grew up. I appreciate watching families grow, friendships flourish, and authentic life happen. After all, Shelby County is the actual heart (center) of Alabama.

2025 is a year to celebrate individuality and embrace the possibilities that come with being true to yourself.
