Honoring the Cost of Freedom: A Memorial Day Reflection

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price so we could live freely in the land we call home. Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to our country are the foundation of the freedoms we so often take for granted—freedom to speak, to gather, to worship, to pursue dreams, and yes, even the freedom to own a home and create a life within it.

At Today's Home, we believe that the blessing of freedom touches every part of our lives. It allows us to own homes and build legacies, where we nurture our families, and plant roots in the communities we love. But that freedom was not free.

Behind every flag flying at half-staff is a name, a story, and a family left behind. There are Mommas, Daddies, Wives, Children, Brothers, and Sisters who daily carry the loss of their loved one. So, behind every solemn tribute is a reminder that liberty comes at a cost! Monday, May 26, 2025, is not just about cookouts or long weekends—it's about remembering. It's about gratitude. It's about loving our country and celebrating our freedoms, paid for by others. It's about honoring the fallen by living lives that reflect the value of their sacrifice.

As we reflect, we are reminded of the words from John 15:13:

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."

To the heroes who gave everything—and to the families who carry on in their absence—we thank you. We honor you. We remember you.

Let us never forget that freedom is a gift, but it came wrapped in sacrifice.

With deepest respect,
