Calera Alabama was incorporated in 1887, and named after the Spanish word for "quarry" for all of the limestone deposits located in the area.
Calera is a city in Shelby and Chilton counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is also the location of the Shelby County Airport. As of the 2010 census Calera had a population of 11,620, more than tripling its total in 2000, making it the fastest-growing city in Alabama. For complete community data, visit City-Data.

Our children are thriving in the schools (Elementary, Middle and High), the Dance Academy is growing by leaps and bounds, and our local Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum sees thousands of visitors each year. The Calera Downtown Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 29, 2006.

If you are wondering about me, well I am married to my best friend Randy. We have three grown children and five grandchildren. Discovering fun things for us to do with our kids and grands is always on our radar.

For fun, I like to garden and write, and together with Randy, we enjoy do-it-yourself projects. We currently have two fur babies, a cat named Buddy Love, who is actively curious and well, kind of mean. And, a sweet French Bulldog named Trixie. Plus five grandkids who are super fun and exciting to watch grow and learn.
During summer you will find us grilling and relaxing around our back-yard pool, and in cooler temperatures, you’ll find us fixing, building, or creating something new. However, all seasons take us outdoors and exploring our amazing Magic City.

Where do I begin?! There aren't enough words to sing my praises for Deb Long!
